Why our gowns are different

Limited edition fabrics. Cut in limited quantities.

We do not buy fabric by the mile. Every Rene Ruiz gown starts with a limited run bought from mills in Italy, France and Turkey, and when that run is gone the gown is gone with it. That is the whole reason the dress you pick is unlikely to walk through the door on somebody else.

The fabric comes first

We buy limited runs from Italian, French and Turkish mills, chosen for how they hang and how they move, not for how cheaply they can be reordered.

Small cuts, not production lines

Each style is cut in a small quantity against that fabric. There is no second run, because there is no second bolt of the cloth.

Then it is finished by hand

Hand stitched detailing, built in stretch bustiers and premium stretch fabrics, so the structure holds all evening without you thinking about it.

Which means you are not walking into your daughter’s wedding wearing something somebody has already seen.

Cut for the body you have now

Designed with mature bodies in mind.

Most occasion wear is a junior silhouette scaled up and lengthened. Ours is not. Every gown is built to flatter, to support, and to still feel good four hours in, when you are hugging people and sitting down for the toasts.

Fit For The Moment is a private styling appointment at our Manhasset boutique. You tell us the occasion and what you have already ruled out. We pull the gowns worth your time before you arrive.

A stylist who has dressed hundreds of mothers of the bride pulls for your occasion, your venue and your colouring, not for whatever is on the front rail.

Honest answers on silhouette, sleeves, length and support, and exactly what alterations would do for anything that is close but not quite right.

Questions we get asked.

How much are the gowns?

Gowns currently run from $995 to $2,795, with most sitting between $1,795 and $2,295. Your stylist will work inside whatever range you tell them, and you are never shown something you did not ask to see.

What if I do not find my dress?

Then you do not buy one. The appointment is free, there is no deposit, and there is no pressure. Plenty of clients use the first appointment to narrow down what they actually want and book a second one later.

What sizes do you carry in store?

Sizes 0 to 24, on the rail, in the boutique. Not ordered in specially.

Do you do alterations?

Yes, in house, on any piece bought directly from our boutiques. That is how we keep the finish consistent with the way the gown was made in the first place.

How long does an appointment take?

Allow about an hour. Bring the shoes you plan to wear, or something close in height, and any jewellery you already know you are wearing.
